Project: Convert Windows Phone 6.5 to Android 4.03

htchd2 win Project: Convert Windows Phone 6.5 to Android 4.03I’ve had an old HTC Diamond for ages, running Windows Mobile 6.1, which at the time was a great phone (it was in the early days of the Smart Phone Era. Before apps took control over the mobile world). I tried the iPhone for a while, but could never bring myself to like it (or it’s locked down security tight OS). I decided to revert back to HTC, and this time the HD2. Of course this running Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn’t make it a great phone either. Microsoft didn’t go all out on this one, in regards to software quality, drivers, and app availability. But the hardware … Now That’s impressive. Too bad I was stuck on Windows – or was I?

Windows 8: Bring back the Start-Menu Orb

Posted by Thomas On March - 8 - 20124 COMMENTS

8 Windows 8: Bring back the Start Menu OrbAs you  probably already know, Microsoft released their “Windows 8 Consumer Preview”. Some say it bold, others say it’s stupid – removing the old familiar start-button from the taskbar. It’s probably just out of old-habit, but I struggled without it. And I’m not the only one. Meaning someone already made a fix for it.

Excel 2007/2010: Creating Charts [How To]

Posted by Thomas On January - 20 - 2012Comments Off

EXCELchart 220x145 Excel 2007/2010: Creating Charts [How To]One of the improvements in Excel 2007 is the rebuilt Chart Tool.  “It used to be so easy” to create charts in Excel, just highlight an area of cells and click Create Chart, and voilá. Well it still is – it only looks a bit different.  In this mini-tutorial I’m using an example from work, tho the names, and numbers have been altered.

The Mission

At work we have tightened security on mobile Exchange Synchronization. A security policy has been set which requires that we ask each of the 2.500 users to read the new guidelines. Failure to accept the new policy guidelines will result in the user loosing access to the server. To be able to monitor the progress of this work (making sure we know that every user has read and accepted) I was asked to create a chart to graphically display the weekly progress,  number of emails sent, number of accepts etc.  The challenge is that we only record names, and dates for each occurrence (notice sent, reply received, account open or closed).

Dual Boot Windows 8 and Windows 7 [Quick Tip]

Posted by Thomas On January - 7 - 20122 COMMENTS

windows 8 logo 220x165 Dual Boot Windows 8 and Windows 7 [Quick Tip]Due to a project at work I had to download the Windows 8 Developer Build the other day. Due to the fact that it’s a very early edition of the OS, running it as the main OS on a computer isn’t the best solution. But seeing as I didn’t want to run a VM I decided to set up a Dual Boot on my Dell Latitude. This Computer has Touch Screen and therefor the perfect computer to test the new Windows 8 Environment.

Windows 8 was installed on a separate partition and I expected it to show up in the OS Boot Menu. It didn’t. Instead the computer booted directly into Windows 8. No Boot menu.

The solution
