windows7ultimate [Expired] Win a Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate License [Comment to Win]

Update: The winner is posted here.

Side note: The winner will receive a boxed version of Windows 7, ordered from Amazon and not just a license key.

Last week, I attempted to give away Windows 7 Home Premium, but the winner has not come forward to claim their prize. I’ve tried, multiple times, to contact them and I’ve not heard back.

The good news is I still want to give Windows 7 away to a reader; this is what I’ve decided to do:

  • I could have randomly chosen another winner; however, I didn’t expect an unclaimed prize and adding a new rule to the old competition seemed wrong.
  • I’ve decided to bump the prize up to Windows 7 Ultimate!
  • The competition will run for 77 hours and end on Sunday, September 20, 2009 @ 5 P.M. EST.

What Do I Win?

Windows 7 Ultimate (Retail: $319.99)

The competition ends on Sunday, September 20, 2009 @ 5 P.M. EST (GMT-5.) The winner will receive their copy of Windows 7 on or around October 22, 2009. There are no geographical restrictions in this competition; all entrants are welcome.

Update: The winner is posted here.

How Do I Win?

Just comment on any post on this site (including this one.) Multiple entries are okay and will increase your chances of winning. I will not consider spammy comments for entry; however, feedback, questions, answers, thoughts, and anything else that adds to the discussion is welcome. Competition Rules

  • You can enter this competition as many times as you like (as long as you don’t spam.)
  • There are no geographical restrictions.
  • The competition ends on Sunday, September 20, 2009 @ 5 P.M. EST (GMT-5); you will have 77 hours to claim your prize; thus, you will need to contact me by Wednesday, September 23, 2009 @ 11:59 P.M. EST (GMT -5.)
  • I will contact the winner, by private message, through the comment system’s private message feature. The winner will also be announced on this site.
  • If a winner does not come forward, a second winner will be randomly chosen.

I’m happy to answer them below.

I would love to win a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate because I think it is the best ever operating system to date. I’m currently testing Windows 7 Ultimate & Windows 7 Enterprise. For an allround operating system I prefer Windows 7 Ultimate although at the moment I can’t do as much with this system as I can wIth Windows Vista Ultimate (My main Operating System) I like it a lot and the smoothness of the system is a vast improvement on Vista. I can’t wait for the final release of Windows 7 Ultimate and hopefully win a copy from you guys. (Fingers Crossed)

  • Ernie

What an outstanding opportunity! I tested the beta which was a bit quirky, but still better (IMHO) than Vista, then fell in love with the RC! How great to have a chance to win the final release!

Great Giveaway, You can count me in

  • John Ridgley

I can’t believe it!! Earlier today I posted an entry saying how Vista has never caused me any problems and since then it has cratered three times. Did someone here jinx my machine?? – maybe it was me. (Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!)

  • Marc Jordan

I guess you’ve gotta be in it to win it, so here is my in.

  • Oscar Villalobos

I wonder to win Windows 7, here in Brazil it costs about R$900,00 (US$500.00), and in Amazon.com about US$350.00.

    Bye,
    Synergy

It’s times like these when I am tempted to take some of the old tab cards off the shelf. The only problem I ever had with them was when I dropped a deck of them on the floor – the only one I had to blame then was myself.

  • Aaron Nicholas Cooper

hmm it would be great to own a legit copy of windows 7…

  • Stephanie Staker

Rich, you are awesome! I am definitely interested in Windows 7 – from what I have read, it is a much better product than Vista. Very nice of you to extend the contest!

So in the past few months I’ve been testing it, the progress has gone from 0 to 100 fairly quick. Everyone seems to be in favor of it and what people call Vista SP2. Very frustrating that MS would charge something that is almost similar to Vista and just name it a new OS. They had to pull them selves from the ground after so much bad press from Vista. Win7 will redeem them, it did for me. Lets step back from all the bad press and look at the OS it self. MS stayed true to its mission, keep it simple, user friendly and it has to work. It seems as though they achieved them all. There are a few issues here and there but that’s to the more technical side of things. But for regular users, they will see a slight different in how they will now use a computer. Regular users dont have to fuss on technical stuff, MS has learned that there are 2 camps they must deal with, tech techs and the no so tech. They have merged both sides very well. The not so tech just wants everything to work, plug it in and bang it works, MS did a great job of idiot proofing it for my mother. The tech wants to play around with every settings around it the OS, MS did a great job of putting things where it should be without hunting them down.

I would recommend that you upgrade to this OS when it comes out. As I said before, it will take some time to get used to it but you will never turn back after you have done it.

I did a full review in my site here.

Windows 7 will be the best OS that MS has come out with.

  • Adi Stoian

I can hear the drums… And the winner is…

  • Lonnie Cherryholmes

Windows 7 has much to prove for Microsoft. Vista was a disaster. If Microsoft is to remain on top they need Windows 7 to be as good as XP was when it came out. From my testing I think they have a wiener. Ha.

  • Adi Stoian

    Yes, 7 is Vista ++

  • Mun Hon

this is great! wat an awesome prize. would really love to stand a chance to win Windows 7 ultimate. as i have jus bought a laptop not long ago which some how was before Microsoft made the announcement tat there will b a free upgrade from vista to an equivalent copy of Win7. How sad is tat? n im stucked with vista at the moment. Till hopefully i win this baby!!! sweet.

  • M Salim

I like to win a Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate License.

  • Sandч Garrido Saunderson

Ok, here i go. first of all i would like to introduce myself. Sandy Saunderson, im 17 from buckinghamshire in England.
I recently come across this website because i am deeply into web design, i did get myself into a great deal of trouble signing up to a home course getting web design qualification, only realising after “de-recommending” the course as to teaching the “wrong method” of HTML and bad scripting. So i scrapped doing that but yet in 3 Grand debt over it, Well my poor mum is :(. So in every single effort to help pay for this disaster i got myself into, i went off to get a qualification (CompTia A+ Computer Technician) this qualification i took at the beggining of the year and needed to study hard to get it. Infact this was when i came across your website, as i was studying i looked at this page about Working with windows registry, one of the questions was something like “How do you back-up a single registry key using regedit”.

For a moment my mind went blank and i could not think of anything i was thinking all sorts. this was the only question i flagged in my examination. right at the end, i thought to go back on this one. so i had just over 5 minutes left and remembered back to the mintywhite website. and the screenshots stuck into my head and from then i knew which of the 4 choices it was. Seems simple but when under that pressure it becomes increasingly silly at making mistakes. i got my results back turns out i passed my 1st exam by a longshot but my second exam which featured this question i passed on the exact past mark. So for me THIS SOLE WEBSITE made me pass my A+ 1st time round. Whiches why i want to thank you so much which the time you have taken, making simple tasks EVEN simpler for the novice.

Ok thats enough of YOU being my world and getting me that qualification ;). I am now studying from books to learn webdesign from some amazing books to help me get a start on my portfolio to get a webdesign job. Better still help my mum pay off the 3 thousand pound debt i put her in. :( just thought this competition for windows 7 would get me a fresh start for starting my webdesigning from my young age although in 8 days im 18 So this should be fun.

All the best to other entries i really do wish people luck. And may the best person win. Heart goes out to www.MintyWhite.com + all those families who dont have the brains or money to get a good start in life. This competition to me + others is more then just petty.

    Thanks for reading.
    Sandy

  • Michael Papagallo

That is an awesome prize! I’m in Australia and only running the beta version at this moment. Gotta say love the speed of this OS. All the work Microsoft have done has finally paid off. Goodbye Vista. Even if i don’t win, i’ll still be looking at getting a copy…

  • Kevin Hebert

I would love to win this. Been looking forward to 7 since beta, just can’t afford to buy it myself.

  • Jonathan Parkes

Fantastic competition! Having used Win7 for quite a few months now, must admit I do like it. Far better then WinVista. Any way.. Good luck all! Woop Woop!

  • D. Allen Ilano

Bumping the prize up to Windows 7 Ultimate will make this competition really interesting. Hope readers will really make an effort posting their comments willingly and enthusiastically. Read on people.

  • James Findlay

Man what a thrill (though sad) that the original winner didn’t come foward. I’m still tinkering with windows7 and by the time I get my hands on a copy,(won or bought) I should be an expert at driving this vechile. Well here’s hoping!

  • Ben McCrudden

    Sounds wicked

  • Rich

Sandy, thanks for sharing your story :)

I’m glad you passed both exams and you remembered the answer to pass!! Congratulations!

  • Thomas Lynch

www.Mintywhite.com is an excellent source of information for finding tips, tricks and help with XP, Vista and Windows 7. The forums are great and the windows guides are well put together and are a valuable tool on improving your knowledge base on Windows.

  • Analisa Martin

I am getting closer to holding that box….it’s mine…mine….mine…..lol

  • Nicholas J West

Will you ship to England? Will P&P be included in this too awesome for words prize?

  • Nicholas J West

  • Rich

Yes. Anywhere in the world. No shipping costs :)

  • Nicholas J West

Great! Where do you get the money to buy these? Are they given to you buy Microsoft, or are you just being incredibly generous?

  • Nicholas J West

I keep having problems wth this page, where it just shows my post and Rich’s. It says there are only 13 comments. Also, all of my comments are awaiting approval by a moderator.

  • John Poston

    No it’s mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • John Poston

Windows7 will compliment Mac OS X Snow Leopard nicely. I love my Mac, but I love my PC too.

  • Rich

Neither haha. I’ve paid this month’s web hosting and there’s some left over advertising revenue from the last couple of months :)

  • Nicholas J West

Same, I have Snow Leopard on my iMac and Windows 7 on my laptop, occasionally running Linux. Nice to se a fellow mac user.

  • Nicholas J West

Excellent! A smart investment, that one of my friend uses, is purchase your own server. It is more work, but it works out cheaper in the long run. Perhaps run a donation drive to purchase one.

  • M Salim

Winning windows 7 would be awesome event.

  • M Salim

Could Windows 7 accomplish everything that’s expected of it?

  • John Ridgley

    Driver Pilot,
Took the time to check out your YouTube videos – quite a nice job. While I was there I also viewed a couple of your other videos – especially like the ‘Miss Me, But Let Me Go’. I work on a bereavement team in our parish and will probably end up using it (if you don’t mind). Great job – the heart you put into making them really shows. Thanks!

  • Angel Grant
