bevl1v SevenShutdownControl Portable Now Available Windows Forums member, Batu, has created a nifty little tool that you can use to schedule a shutdown on your Windows 7 machine. You may want to schedule a shutdown for the following reasons:

You’re about to head to work but you want your virus scan to finish.
It’s bed time, but your computer needs to be on for 30 more minutes to finish a download.
You have homework to do and you want to set a limit for time spent on the PC before you start.
Your child is on the computer and you don’t want them on all night.
You want to show your friends this cool tool.
The list can go on…

PROS: Some backup software is outright scary–with complicated expressions and words (AES, synchronization, encryption etc.)–this program is not scary at all. EASUES Todo Backup is simple to use and, although limited with options, does the job.

CONS: Version 1.1 is a lot more polished. I had some problems getting version 1.0 to work. Although I praise this program for being simple, I would like to see better support for network backups, online backup (Amazon S3, SkyDrive etc.), and automation. Windows Backup can perform most of the functions this program can.

VERDICT: If you’re looking for a free backup solution and find Windows Backup doesn’t do what you need, you should give this program a try.

PROS: Clean interface, easy installation, one-click cleaning (automatic with PRO version), tons of modules to help you optimize your PC.CONS: The PRO version is a little pricey for me. Some modules are not well explained and could leave users a little unsure of what is going on with their PC.

VERDICT: The free version is free for personal use and I highly recommend it. The PRO version is $28 at time of writing, but I’d still like to see it for $20. Definitely try the free version and explore the PRO features to see what you think.

DShutdown Gives You Control Over When Your Computer Shuts Down

If you want control over when your PC shuts down, Dshutdown is for you. This program will give you complete control over triggers that make your computer shut down. This can be useful if you are energy conscious and want your PC to shut down after use. I realize many of this site’s readers never let their computer even hibernate — because they use it so much! However, I hope this program may help some of you.
