DriverMax is a new tool that allows you to download the latest driver updates for your computer. No more searching for rare drivers on discs or on the web or inserting one installation CD after the other. Just create a free account, log in, and start downloading the updates you need.

Note: DriverMax only works on Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2003 (all service packs). Driver downloads are *only* available for Windows Vista and Windows XP users.
You can also export all your current drivers (or just the ones that work ok) to a folder or a compressed file. After reinstalling Windows you will have everything in one place!
Most of the situations when Windows is running slower are caused by faulty driver installations. Windows stores all versions of older drivers just in case you want to go back; sometimes it messes up older versions with more recent ones. The Export Wizard will only export the drivers you select by copying the needed files to a folder or a compressed ZIP file.
After reinstalling Windows all drivers will be back in place in less than 5 minutes – sparing you of searching, inserting disc after disk and losing precious time. The Import Drivers wizard allows you to install all the drivers that you exported earlier. The entire operation might take up to 5-10 minutes.
Just one single computer restart will be required after all drivers are reinstalled!
DriverMax is able to display a complete report of all drivers (versions, release dates) installed on your system. This feature can also be very useful when you want to analyze the differences between the drivers installed on different machines.

I’ve used this software. It works well. Some drivers it finds aren’t exactly what may work the best. Gives multiple recommendations for various drivers.(almost like it web crawls driverguide for them). If nothing else, I’ve used this program to save my existing updated drivers I get from the hardware manufactures, then export them. Save on a removable media for easy access just in case.

I am not a PC person but I’ve agreed to help a friend do an XP reinstall. I think he had a cracked version of XP but couldn’t update so he had lots of viruses etc. We bought a licensed copy of XP and will do a complete reinstall. We backed everything up, personal files, but I’m not sure what to do about the drivers. There were so many problems with his old system that I was hoping this tool would allow me to do a reinstall and after that use the tool to find the drivers so i didn’t have to back them up. I’m afraid they might be corrupted too. Is this doable?

It sounds like Windows 7 is (finally) going to take care of this automatically. Of course it really does depend a lot on the manufacturers to make this process work well..
