We’ve previously told you about Taskbar Thumbnails and how to use the Taskbar more efficiently. Personally I love the stack functionality in the Windows 7 Taskbar. Stacking all the thumbnails is a great way to keep the taskbar tidy and compact. The only thing that irritates me is that it doesn’t (by default) keep track of which of the windows I was working on last. If I’m working on several Excel Documents and I need to switch to another program for a few minutes, going back to the same Excel document will often lead me flipping through the entire stack.

There is a way to change this behavior, letting the Stack-feature save which window you worked in last. It requires a small Registry hack – and as always, create a backup before you do in case something should go horribly wrong. That being said, here’s how to fix it:

If you want the maximum viewing area in Windows Explorer, simply press the F11 key (or hold CTRL when you click the maximize button—if not already maximized.)

To return to the normal view, press the F11 key a second time.

The F11 key is also be used for full-screen mode in popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Over time, dust and dirt build up inside your laptop; thereby, restricting airflow, increasing heat, and putting a strain on your laptop’s fans. A hot laptop is not a happy laptop. In fact, most modern processors (CPUs) reduce their clock speed when temperatures get close to 80C (think of it as a “survival mode” for your CPU), which is generally accepted as the highest temperature you should let your CPU reach. The dirtier the airways in your laptop, the quicker your CPU’s temperature can jump to dangerous levels—especially when the airways are further restricted by a pillow, your jeans etc.

Uploading has become a task on a daily basis, being to a social site or a cloud service of sorts. Most sites will allow you to upload multiple files at once, tho not all. If the On-screen Keyboard pops up every time you log in to Windows and you want to disable this behavior, this guide is for you. I’ve had this question emailed to me a couple of times before; it wasn’t until it started to happen to me, that I thought it might be useful to put up a guide for the fix.

It’s likely that you brought up the on-screen keyboard on the Windows log-on screen at some point. When you do this, Windows changes its settings to enable the on-screen keyboard each time you log on to your computer (after a restart or log off.) It’s not really much hassle to close the keyboard but, after a number of times, it can be tedious. Luckily, there’s a simple “fix” to get the setting back to default.
