In this guest post, James Ricketts explores EXE Printer errors on your PC. Learn more about James at the conclusion of this post.

Printers are one of the key peripherals that are used extensively by PC users. Some businesses today are completely dependent on printers to print their bills, invoices and other important official documents.

Printers have also become popular with home PC users. The launch of economical all-in-one printers that come in different combinations of photocopiers, scanners and fax machines have further added to this popularity. In fact, with such a range of tasks it is surprising that they are still called printers.

Just like a computer, a printer can also face issues that can hinder its normal functioning. These issues could be related to hardware errors, software errors related to printer drivers, or human errors such as empty cartridges and incorrect connections.

It is possible for you to solve most printer-related software errors on your own. All you need to know is what causes these problems and make note of the steps to resolve them.

Before you start printing, there are some important things that you need to check.

  • The printer is connected to the power source and is turned on.
  • The data cable is properly connected to the printer and your computer.
  • There is enough paper in the printer.
  • The printer cartridge is not empty.

These are just basic things that are often overlooked and therefore, are common causes of printer problems.

When you send a print job, they are spooled and temporary spool files are created and saved in a folder. These files are automatically removed when the print job is complete. If these spool files fail to delete, the spool folder may fill up and generate spoolsv.exe errors. You may also notice high CPU usage by the file in the Task Manager. To fix these errors, you just need to go to the C:\Windows\system32\spool\Printers folder and delete all files located in it. While on the task, you may also clean up unwanted temporary files in the Temp folder on the computer.

Problems with printer driver files, such as hpcmpmgr.exe may occur if your driver is outdated or corrupt. To resolve such problems and perform EXE error fixes in such cases, you need to download the latest drivers from the manufacturers’ website and install them on your computer.

Just like all other software on your computer, printer drivers are also registered in the Windows registry. If printer driver entries are corrupt, or if your registry is damaged, you may encounter problems while using your computer. This is the reason why, it is recommended that you obtain a good registry cleaner tool and perform a thorough registry scan. A good registry tool will enable you to identify all errors and repair them in just a few mouse clicks.

Printer errors may also occur if the EXE and other printer driver files are infected with a virus. Infected files fail to function normally and generate errors. To check whether your printer files are healthy or not, use an updated antivirus tool, and then scan your PC for infections. If you find any infected files, repair them to get rid of the virus and repair the errors caused by it.

If none of the above tasks enable you to resolve your printer problem, it might indicate some hardware issue with your printer. To get this problem repaired you will need to seek the help of a technician.
