Windows Update error 80070422 in Windows 7

If you get Windows Update error 80070422 in Windows 7, this guide is for you.

If you receive Windows Update error 80070422 while downloading updates, you might need to change the Windows Update service settings, and then restart the service.

Change or Restart the Windows Update Service

Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

  1. Press Start, type admin, and click on Administrative Tools
  2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

  3. Right-click the Windows Update service, and then click Properties

  4. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected
  5. Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it is not, click Start. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

If the problem persists after you have followed the steps above, go to the Microsoft Update Solution Center website to try to find more information about the error code.

    -i’m getting the same error, but the weird thing is service is already started. i try restaring it, but it’s still not working..

    -i used “timenuker”, do you think that may be the cause? i already downloaded the drivers for my graphics and audio card from windows update before. thanks in advance.

      Have you registered your copy of Windows 7?

    xanhellx, I also used “timenuker* and the solution also doesn’t work for me so I think thats the problem.

    -actually it is skillmachine, but i got a serial to activate windows, and now it’s genuine ;)

    -i can update without any issue now. obviously, i uninstalled the time nuker.
