If you’ve moved from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate, you may have noticed some games have been cut from the mix. Most notably, Hold ‘em.
Microsoft intends to release Hold ‘em through Games for Windows as it did for Tinker but for those of you who can’t wait, here’s a way to get Hold ‘em working on your Windows 7 system.
Step 1.
Download this zip folder. It contains all the necessary files required to install Hold ‘em on Windows 7 x86 & x64.
Extract the contents to your desktop, then right click Install.bat and click Run as administrator.
Step 2.
A command window will open prompting you for a keystroke to begin.
Once it has finished it’s job, it will prompt for another keystroke to exit.
If any errors occur, please post a topic here.
Step 3.
Now you can go ahead and click the Games link in your Start Menu and play away!
Note that you may have a security warning when you attempt to play the game. This is a completely safe method and you can go ahead and uncheck the box asking to check the file every time it’s opened.
And it’s as easy as that! Enjoy :)
there is no link to download the zip file in this post of yours. so how do you get the link.
Click Download this zip folder.
The zip folder is empty

Is there any way to install the help file so it can be opened from inside the game? Or at least access it somehow?
I’m BESIDE MYSELF. Not only have I sought out this particular game for what seems like ages (At least Two years now at this writing) but I have now finally found an absolutely PAIN FREE method in finding it, installing AND keeping it for future installations. You my friend are a miracle worker to say the very least, and I THANK YOU DEEPLY along with most EVERYONE else here that has visited *and those yet to stumble across this very treasured page* for not only bringing this gem of a card game to Life once again in Windows 7, but ensuring a smooth, simple and PERFECT installation!
THANK YOU!!, THANK YOU!!, THANK YOU!!
I’m glad you like it Jae. :D
Shame there’s no online play though…(here’s to hoping that functionality appears in Windows 8)
What size is the zip file?
It’s 16.4MB.
LIke
How about Windows 8?
The readme says, that ‘Hold ’em’ is available in 30 languages… But, how can I change the language?
definitive keeper!
