Windows Guides Feed

Personally, I don’t see the point in upgrading your hardware if your computer does everything you need it to. However, sometimes it’s nice to improve what you already have. In this guide we will learn how to make the most out of the hardware you have and make Windows Vista run faster. (Here’s a similar list for Windows XP and for Windows 7.)

I highly recommend you create  a system restore point before you follow this guide.

Note: There is a lot of crossover with this guide and the guide to extend laptop battery life; some of the procedures, listed below, will help save power.

Posted by Thomas On May - 21 - 20102 COMMENTS

Suggestions Help us improve Windows Guides and Win a prize! We here on mintywhite, spend a lot of time writing about what interest us, and hopefully we succeed writing something that interests you as well. The other day I started thinking about how I, as a writer, could improve and how this could become an even better site – for you. With that in mind, HOW may we improve?

  • What kind of topics would you like to see more of?
  • What kind of topics would you like to see less of?
  • Is there some special software we should review?
  • How about our competitions? More? Less?
  • Tell us what you think.

The Suggestion Box

I’ve asked Rich to add a new Sticky Topic in our Forum, called: The Suggestion Box. This is the place for you to add your comments, ideas, suggestions about our site; be assured that every suggestion will be taken seriously, and none of them will end up in the  shredder.

Win a prize!

To launch this new feature, we have 5 more Windows licenses of WinXdvd Ripper (Read about it here) and about 10 more MAC licenses for you our Readers. So, the next five Fridays, we will pick the best suggestion out of the box and reward it with a license of your choice.

If you ever should consider buying a DVD Copy/Backup program, it’s this one. You can make backups of your DVD collection with a few clicks – even the newest ones. And you get free lifetime updates.

Did you miss our review ? Read it here.

When you read through this list, you will notice that we only gave out 19 licenses, thou we promised 30 ?! That is true – as it turns out (and of course we expected as much) that not many of our readers use MAC. Therefore we were only able to give away 4 MAC licenses. However. IF you DO know someone who is bound to their love for MAC, tell them to send me an email at: begging (Ed note: or just asking nicely) me for a license, and I’ll be happy to accommodate.  Tell them to Write: “MAC license Please” in the Subject line. Now, on to the business at hand… Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by Angel Luis On May - 8 - 20104 COMMENTS

The most incredible part of this is that Windows, since XP, comes with a feature, Fetch and later SuperFetch, that tries to improve load time of applications, making most of these programs useless.

The question is, why does every great company want a process running in your computer?  The answer I suppose is to have statistic of usage, but at least for me this is not an option.
