The Windows App Store is a welcomed edition to Windows 8 and, although in its infancy, is already hosting some great apps. If you’re using Windows 8 and would like to try an app, follow these steps:

Note: AirPlay Mirroring will only work for “the new iPad” (3rd generation) and the iPhone 4S or later devices. Other AirPlay functions like YouTube over AirPlay will work with older supported devices.

If you would like to project your iPad’s screen to any PC on your network, you can do so with AirServer. AirServer runs on your PC and broadcasts its availability to all AirPlay mirroring capable devices on the same local network. With version 0.9.3.1 (currently in beta) and onward, you can stream audio too.

I spend a lot of time out and about and am finding it increasingly difficult to get everything I want to done in my digital world when I get home in the evening. I got my first iPhone in 2008 and and am now on my third. The App Store works really well and I enjoy purchasing good quality, well supported, and frequently updated apps that help me get more done. I’ve considered purchasing an iPad ever since its launch but had a perfectly good laptop I could use. Now, my laptop battery life is just under 10 minutes and, rather than purchase a battery that costs about as much as the laptop is worth (or a little more), I bought a 16GB Wifi iPad.

Windows 8 is coming to tablets and PCs in stores on October 26, 2012.

Windows “version 8” is upon us. Bringing changes to the old and safe, the familiar. Some say the changes are for the best, others dread them, swear to keep the Seven for a long time yet (some even say they will never abandon XP as long as there’s hardware to support it). That is how changing things works. But, the awful truth is, that, what seems new and daunting will undoubtedly after a while seem like the most natural thing in the world, something you just can’t imagine life without. Do you think that the changes in “Version 8” are overwhelming ? Then try imagine being back when Windows was first introduced…
