Hi all, I just recently performed a fresh install of Windows 7 RTM 64 bit, which so far I'm lovin it. I was running Vista Ultimate and can seen a big difference. The problem I was having is getting Virtual PC to work. You have to have a processor that supports hardware-assisted virtualization, which I found out I don't. I have a Pentium dual core 2.20 Ghz., 4 gigs of memory. I tried installing the older version of Virtual PC which is not supported. It's not really that big of a deal, because I'm using VMware workstation now, but I prefer Virtual PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :D

I'm afraid there won't be many suggestions to get Windows Virtual PC working on your computer. Fact is, you don't have the right processor. VMware & VirtualBox are good substitutes.
To be honest, VMware has more functionality than Windows Virtual PC anyway......although XP mode is very good :D

Try Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 instead. It won't integrate XP windows with the 7 windows like XP Mode does, but you will be able to virtualize another Windows OS without hardware-supported virtualization. I've tried it on my laptop that has an older chip and have successfully virtualized XP, Vista, and 7 inside of 7. Let me know if you need some help, but if you search it in Bing you should find it.

I DL'ed Virtual PC SP1 like you suggested, and it worked! Thanks!

Also thanks rsvr85 for the link, something to increase the knowledge base. :D

I found this also on wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization, processors that support hardware virtualization.

Glad it helped, thanks for that list of supported processors. Virtualize away!
