Remove Options from the Windows 7 Shutdown Menu [How To]

Following my previous article about how to change the “Shutdown” button, I have had some PC’s on our network, that are shared by many users, that needed to have all options except “Log-off” removed.

In my previous article I explained how to change the function of the “Shutdown” button to “Log off”. Now I’ll show you how to remove the other options you see on the little side-menu when you hover over the arrow next to the “Log off” button.

Disable Fast User Switch in XP [Quick Tip]

If more than one person is sharing  a computer, Fast User Switching in XP allows you to switch between accounts without having to log off. It’s handy if you need to quickly switch back and forth. Even as Office has evolved is not unusual to find problems using the software. We have to think that a Word document,  is more than just a file. It usually includes advanced features as macros, link to external data, etc.

Microsoft that is aware of that has included several ways to solve problems.

Safe Mode

Word 2010 includes a Safe Mode, it appears in other version of the suite. To enter this mode you just have to hold the Ctrl key when you are entering on the application. The following image will appear:

Recently I have had the need to change the power-button on the start menu for some users to the option to “log-off” rather than “shutdown”.
