vista patch bandaid sp1 220x220 SOLVED: Virtual wi fi applications dont work after restartSome readers that tried to set up their computer as a Wireless Hotspot reported that the service fails when rebooting the computer. Some reported to get an error saying something like “The hosted network could not be started”.

This error may also occur in applications using Microsoft’s Virtual Wi-Fi technology on a Windows 7 machine.

Hopefully we can now deliver the solution…

What’s up with that?

According to Microsoft: “This happens due to a Plug and Play resource rebalance that happens during setup. The PNP resource rebalance is usually triggered by a change to the hardware configuration.”

If you open Device Manager when this issue occurs, you will notice that the Virtual WiFi Adapter is not created.

Hotfix

Microsoft has released a Hotfix that might just fix the problem. You can read more about it here, or download directly from the link below.
