IPConfig Release Renew

Sometimes, when you connect to a wireless network, that works all the time, you’ll find that the Internet doesn’t work even though you are seemingly connected. I get this on campus and in this guide you will learn one of the simple tricks I use to avoid the need to restart your computer to get the Internet working again.

Using IPConfig /Release /Renew

IPConfig is a tool built into Windows; you can access this tool via the command line. in this guide, you’ll learn how to use this tool from the command line or download a batch file which automatically releases and renews your Internet connection.

Fix Your Connection via the Command Line

To repair your Internet connection using the command line, do the following:

  1. Press WINKEY+R, type cmd and press EnterIPConfig Release Renew 1
  2. When the Command Line comes up, type ipconfig /release IPConfig Release Renew 2
  3. Now type ipconfig /renew IPConfig Release Renew 3
  4. Wait a few moments and try your internet again. Hopefully this fixes your problem. If not, at least you learned another troubleshooting tip.

Fix Your Connection with a Batch File

If you not you want to use the command line to attempt to fix the Internet, you can download a simple batch file, which I prepared, that’s will run the commands mentioned above automatically.

Simply download the zip file below, extract it, and run the.bat file. Now try your Internet connection and hopefully it works for you.

Why do these sidebar gadgets stop working alfter a while?. I find the Windows Vista gadget no longer works and also the BBC sidebar no longer works. They all used to work at one time.

While I am not sure, how does this fixes a Network Problem,I use these command to get a new IP every time I download a file from Rapidshare(and delete cookies to get one more file without wait time) or when the unlimited download time begins at 2am on BSNL broadband.

Sometimes you just have to get down and dirty and give your operating system the COMMAND LINE, LOL.
I must confess, I really need get accustom in using the CMD line. With all the GUI stuff out there, it’s often the forgotten child of the operating system. If you want to impress your friends, there’s nothing like going to the command line and typing some commands and making the computer do something. Makes you look so geeky. (I hear it’s the in thing now). Oh, and my opinion on gadgets, they are for girls.
