Adding Gmail, mintywhite, or Any Website Shortcuts 1

I check Gmail a lot and used to have it as a secondary tab in my home page when Firefox starts. I recently decided to try and add Gmail to the desktop context menu and now I want to share this trick with you. I’ve also included a file you can use to add www.mintywhite.com to your desktop context menu too.

Adding Gmail and mintywhite Shortcuts to Your Desktop Context Menu

Please note: This hack only works with Windows Vista and Seven.
Adding the shortcuts is simple. Just do the following:

  1. Download this zip file
  2. Extract the file and double click on the key you wish to merge (each is named for website/browser)
  3. If prompted by UAC, click Allow, and click OK when asked if you would like to merge the key
  4. Right click on your desktop to see the link

Adding Custom Shortcuts to Your Desktop Context Menu

To add a custom shortcut to your desktop context menu, do the following:

  1. Download this zip file
  2. Extract the file
  3. Right click on firefox-open-gmail.reg and click edit (use ie-open-gmail.reg for IE)Adding Gmail, mintywhite, or Any Website Shortcuts 2
  4. Change the address to the website you want and change the text you want on the context menuAdding Gmail, mintywhite, or Any Website Shortcuts 3
  5. Click File > Save As… and save the file as a new name
  6. Now double click on the file to merge it with your registry
