Customize Folder Icons in Vista Explorer

I use some folders as a dashboard to get to commonly used folders. A good example of this is my ‘Media’ partition. Here, I have my Music, Video, Pictures, and other folders. In this guide, you’ll learn how to customize your folder icons to achieve something similar to Figure 1.

Customizing Folder Icons

To change your folder icons, do the following:
1. Right click on the folder you want to customize the icon for and select Properties

2. Select the Customize tab and click on Change Icon…

3. Select an Icon or browse for your own (get thousands of icons here)

4. Press OK on both screens and you are done.

Note: To view larger icons in Windows Explorer, click the Views button, on the toolbar, until you get to large icons.
