Reboot Delete File Ex provides one of the easiest methods I’ve ever come across to solve this problem. I mean, it’s actually that ingeniously simple; that I, myself should have thought of it, years ago. Well, I didn’t.

How it works

The application is designed to automatically delete the file in question upon next system reboot. So basically what you do is to open the program, choose the “willful” file(s) and mark it for deletion. it’s that simple.

Click the button, and you’re good to reboot!

I use a small program called “Unlocker” and it works very easily. It has a few different options, but mainly it lets you delete a file at that time, without having to restart your PC.

  Ive been using Unlocker for years and it works great. You would think the “Expert” here would have known about that. lol

  Except Unlocker comes with malware. Delta tool bar etc. No thanks

    Malware you say? Just untick the box and they won’t be installed at all. I have a paid antivirus and Unlocker is 100% safe. It’s just the “sponsored” installer that is bundled with “virus” add-ons.
    Unlocker is perfectly safe! It’s alot easier to use too.

    It installs opencandy and there’s nothing you can do except not install it. Also installs relevant knowledge without telling you. Checking it with a virus scan shows nothing. But the stuff is easily taken care of with Malwarebytes

    A bit late in here so sorry but as mentioned you can untick the extra’s you don’t want. I know they annoy people but at the end of the day they make a little bit of money for the developers, and in a world where most paid products are illegally downloaded it makes sense as it can gain small revenue while making the product free.
    The program sounds good mentioned in the article but I like the fact that Unlocker tries to unlock the file, unhook it from the process its attached to so that you can try and delete it without a reboot (doesn’t always work).

Hi Thomas, Would this programme delete a folder for me? This folder is empty but it won’t let me delete it in the normal way nor can I open it.
