JarteWindows Guides reader, Angie, suggested Jarte in response to Q10, which she enjoys using. Jarte is a simple word processor that is a natural extension of Windows Wordpad. This wordprocessor is lightweight and includes the tools you need to write great documents

When installing jarte, ensure you only select the dictionaries you need (see below.) This will will save you space and removes unneccesary components from your installation.

Jarte Installation

When using Jarte to compose this guide, I found it both easy to use and distraction free. Sometimes, when we are given too many choices, things become confusing and we can be distracted.

rahul bhasker, I’m not sure about how to insert a border, but Rich might know how. I totally love Jarte. I’ve found that I can also use it sort of like a test pad to work on HTML codes for my website. It has definitely come in handy for me.

Rich, thank you for sharing Jarte! :)

You should also check out SSuite Office for a free alternative word processor. It has almost all the features of Word, and looks and works the same. {except for the ribbons}. Their word processor is called WordGraph.

It is only 12 MB in size. Nice and small :) . Their software also don’t need to run on Java or .NET, like so many open source software, so it makes their software very small and efficient.
