I just bought (for the 1st time) a bunch of double layer DVDs to use on my stand alone DVD player only to find that they won't do anything as I should have bought CPRM DVDs
it got me thinking, is there a way to make them CPRM by burning them as one? what I am asking is, has some bright person delevoped a way to make a normal DVD look like a CPRM to the machine? (ie burn them as CPRM on your computer then use them as CPRM)
... just wishful thinking?

I doubt it because the protection information is (probably) stored on an area of the disc that a "normal" burner cannot reach/write to and that a DL DVD does not even contain. This is the same as XBOX/PS games etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd either have to modify the player or obtain (near impossible) a drive capable of imitating the disc and the media to go along with it.
