Has anyone heard anything about Caviar Green HDDs having problems with Windows 7? I have a pair of brand new Caviar Greens that have been having problems ever since I installed them in my server. For the past month I've just bit the bullet and kept using them as they are, but it's getting pathetic. Every 5 or so minutes they just stop responding. It seems like they're going into standby, they eventually come out, but there's no particular reason I can see as to why exactly...

Obviously, WD support isn't any help; since Windows 7 isn't out yet they won't even give me suggestions. I'm out of ideas. Nothing I do seems to be having any effect. Is there a specific driver you have to use for Greens to make them work right or something? Anything? I'm pretty desperate at this point.

My HDDs are the WD15EADS 1.5 TB (1500 GB). I'm using an AMD Athlon X2 with a biostar nvidia nforce 590 SLI delux motherboard and 4gb of RAM. Ami forgetting anything else?

Yeah, are they IDE or SATA? Maybe they need different BIOS settings for IDE, or maybe you are having a problem with chipset drivers. Those are my only ideas. I have a WD Caviar Black 640 and it works perfectly with my SATA board.

OK, lets start with the basics. Are there any events in the 'Event Viewer'? (type viewer into the start search box.

How are your jumper cables setup? See the image below
