My DVD drive can sucessfully write DVDs but it fails when CD are burned. Does any one know the reason? Mine is a vaio laptop CR series

I have exactly the same problem with my DVD drive.
See this google search, it's about registry settings for the upper and lower filters. Didn't work for me, but there are a lot of success stories out there
Give it a go and let us know.

Have you tried different brands with lighter/darker ink? Have you tried a slower burn speed? Just my suggestions, which you may well have tried already.
