if your ever need a new hd or getting one for extra storage they come with a jumper.remove this cause it limits it to 1.5 gigs instead of 3.0 gigs which is faster.i've noticed this with seagate but not sure with other brands but check before installing drive.your read and write will be faster.

This tip is very vague. The jumper limits what to the 1.5GB? And to more inexperienced users, what is a jumper and how do you get to it?

I think what mikill71 is talking about is the small jumper block on the rear of the HD (next to the SATA data cable). Seagate (for sure) used a small jumper to limit the transfer speed to 1.5Gbps (SATA I) on their eairlier HDs. (I've notice the newer Seagate's (7200.12 1TB~>) don't have the jumper and are preset for SATA II.) Not sure if this applies to other (WD, Samsung, etc.) HDs as I don't use those brands.

do u guyz know that nowadays all newly manufactured hdd's boards etc...and whatever is related to computer , is being badly made , well for some reason ther's a war in china between the dealers of our countries ! anywayz the point is ther's a new generation of hdd i think that most of you have heard of it , it can maintain vibration ! it's kinda anti-shock , and the best part is that , the new hdd's come with Cache , like WD "western digital" hdd's come with a 8 mb cache ! , it's cool right ... unfortunately after 5 years none will gonna be usefull!
