Here's a custom Start Orb i made for Windows 7.

The .ZIP includes the BMP and the PSD (if anyone fancies modifying it)

What does it look like in action? Let's see some screenshots. And where do you unzip the file(s) to?

I just made a quick mod of it. i made the logo a tad smaller, increased the size of the hover glow and reduced the size of the click glow.

Hi i made my own one from the .PSD but when i hover over the orb (the transition between pic 1 and pic 2) there is a quick black flash

P.S i followed your guide

Try adding an adjustment layer and bring the brightness down.
P.S Some Orbs only look good against a dark background (like mine!)

I'm sorry,i just used icons(png) i had,and put them on with gimp(just had to resize and line up)
I'm using another i did same as first pic but bigger.Here's icons.....Explorer file is included if u just want to switch.Just to be clear,the explorer i've included is the same as the 1st pic but bigger.For win7 release.Glad u like tho',is funny,different.

Edit:I just noticed they're .ico files...I must have converted them 1st to bmp.But i'm sure u know how to do it anyway.
