This is a little something I’ve been working on for a day or so.

It changes the backgrounds and background thumbnail of your Windows 7 Card Games to a ‘www.Mintywhite.com’ theme-pack.

If you’ve ever spent any amount of time playing card games, i hope you find this to be a refreshing change.

Click the link below to see some screenshots of what i mean.

As you can see, it’s a bit ropey and isn’t completely finished.  Unfortunately this only works on x86 systems (so far) and has only been tested on Windows 7 OS.

I’m also totally open to suggestions/requests for any future builds. Smile

Here’s how to easily apply the changes to your system. (You’ll require administrative permissions)

Step 1.

Close any current card games & download CardGamesPatch, unzip it to %windir%\system32

Step 2.

Take ownership of %windir%\system32\CardGames.dll

Step 3.

Right click CardGamesPatch.exe and click Run as Administrator,

Click the Read instructions for a reiteration of this guide, and click the Start button for the patch to begin.

If all went well you should see a “Patch successful !” message.  Click Quit.

Now when you open up your card games, press F7 and choose a new background.

I haven’t worked out how to change the names of the backgrounds yet – If anyone knows off the top of their heads, I’d be forever grateful.

Download [PROGRAM NAME]

Download CardGamesPatch v0.3

Keep your eyes peeled for a complete Mintywhite [How To] guide …. coming soon!

This is one of my favorite modifications. Thanks rsvr85!

  2. RSVR85 says:

I quite like it too, thanks Rich!

  3. Blizo says:

To change the names of the backgrounds you need to edit each games background list. For example: BACKGROUNDSFREECELLBACKGROUNDLIST.XML.

Then clear out the “name” section and use whatever name you want.

If you want to change the deck names then edit DECKSDECKLIST.XML. Same way as above.
    I figured it all out.
