It&#8217;s hard to come up with  ideas on how to improve something that is already a great product, I&#8217;m sure. But there was one new thing I&#8217;ve found quite useful: Sparklines.</p><h2>Sparklines &#8211; What&#8217;s that ?</h2><p><span id="more-9727"></span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><a href="http://mintywhite.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/sparklines.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-9729 alignright" title="sparklines" src="http://mintywhite.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/sparklines-500x218.png" alt="sparklines 500x218 Excel 2010: Sparklines" width="400" height="174" /></a>I thought you&#8217;d say that. Well, let&#8217;s for argument sake say you did. In short, Sparklines are tiny diagrams or charts that you can insert into your worksheet at the end of a row or column to project trends or compare statistics. Each Sparkline is so small that it takes up no space at all. One Cell is all it takes, making it a brilliant visual help to monitor your numbers.</p><p>One usage that comes to mind is to monitor your sales progress during a month, week, quarter. Or, maybe if you have an Excel sheet to monitor your stock options, you can quickly see how they are doing suing small Sparklines.</p><p>Sparklines are located in the middle of the Insert Ribbon with three standard lines to choose from. Highlight the area you would like to monitor and choose your Sparkline of choice. I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ll wonder, however you managed without.</p><p><div style="border: 1px dotted; padding: 5px; background: rgb(232, 232, 232); margin: 5px;"> <a href="http://mintywhite.com/download-books">Get FREE books</a> (Password: <u><a href="http://mintywhite.com/download-books">mintywhiteBooks</a></u>)<br /><br /> <small>&copy; <a href="http://mintywhite.com" title="Windows Tools, Help &amp; Guides">Windows Guides</a>, 2012. <a href="http://richr.org/" title="Rich Robinson">Rich Robinson</a> | <a href="http://mintywhite.com/more/news/excel-2010-sparklines/">Excel 2010: Sparklines</a> </small></div></p><p><div style="float:left; text-align:left;><img alt=" Excel 2010: Sparklines" src='http://1.gravatar.com/avatar/38fb7390d7ecf29b2500b97a0b223ba2?s=100&amp;d=http%3A%2F%2F1.gravatar.com%2Favatar%2Fad516503a11cd5ca435acc9bb6523536%3Fs%3D100&amp;r=G' class='avatar avatar-100 photo' height='100' width='100' title="Excel 2010: Sparklines" /></div><h3>About <a href="http://mintywhite.com/author/thomas/" title="Thomas">Thomas</a></h3><p>Computer geek from the age of 7, which amounts to 30 years of computer experience. This update is part of the standalone update package and will be offered as a separate package on Windows Update.</li></ul><h3><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Documentation:</span></span></h3><ul><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&amp;SrcFamilyId=61924CEA-83FE-46E9-96D8-027AE59DDC11&amp;SrcDisplayLang=en&amp;u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fE%2fB%2fA%2fEBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69%2fDeployment+Guide+for+Windows+Server+2008+R2+with+SP1+and+Windows+7+with+SP1.doc">Deployment Guide for Windows 7 with SP1</a></li><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&amp;SrcFamilyId=61924CEA-83FE-46E9-96D8-027AE59DDC11&amp;SrcDisplayLang=en&amp;u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fE%2fB%2fA%2fEBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69%2fHotfixes+and+Security+Updates+included+in+Windows+7+and+Windows+Server+2008+R2+Service+Pack+1.xls">Hotfixes and Security Updates included in Windows 7 SP1</a></li><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&amp;SrcFamilyId=61924CEA-83FE-46E9-96D8-027AE59DDC11&amp;SrcDisplayLang=en&amp;u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fE%2fB%2fA%2fEBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69%2fRelease+Notes+for+Windows+7+with+Service+Pack+1.doc">Release Notes for Windows 7 with SP1</a></li><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&amp;SrcFamilyId=61924CEA-83FE-46E9-96D8-027AE59DDC11&amp;SrcDisplayLang=en&amp;u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fE%2fB%2fA%2fEBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69%2fNotable+Changes+in+Windows+7+and+Windows+Server+2008+R2+Service+Pack+1.doc">Notable Changes in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1</a></li></ul><h3><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Update Readiness Tools:</span></span></h3><ul><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=44E15787-66B0-4E9C-9C3B-1FC9EA40F69F">Windows 7 x86</a></li><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=914FBC5B-1FBA-4BAE-A7C3-D2C47C6FCFFC">Windows 7 x64</a></li></ul><h3><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">SP1 Download Links:</span></span></h3><ul><li><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda">Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1</a></li><li><a href="http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/F/0AFB5316-3062-494A-AB78-7FB0D4461357/windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe">Windows 7 SP1 x86 (538MB EXE)</a></li><li><a href="http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/F/0AFB5316-3062-494A-AB78-7FB0D4461357/windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe">Windows 7 SP1 x64 </a><a href="http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/F/0AFB5316-3062-494A-AB78-7FB0D4461357/windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe">(903MB EXE)</a></li><li><a href="http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/F/0AFB5316-3062-494A-AB78-7FB0D4461357/7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso">Windows 7 SP1 x86 and x64 (1953MB ISO)</a></li></ul><h3><font style="font-weight: bold"><u>Physical Media:</u></font></h3><ul><li><a href="https://ompob.parttest.extranettest.microsoft.com/opa/start.om?StoreID=D8F7BC03-A729-4829-88FE-3060615FEC1B&amp;LocaleCode=en-us&amp;JavaScriptOn=yes&amp;newtrans=1">Service Pack 1 Physical Media Ordering</a></li></ul><h3><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Cleanup:</span></span></h3><p>Note that this removes backup files created during the SP installation thus the SP cannot be uninstalled after this operation has completed.</p><p>In an elevated command prompt run</p><blockquote><p><strong>dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded</strong></p></blockquote><h3><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Troubleshooting:</span></span></h3><ul><li><a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2502370/">&quot;The following updates might need to be reinstalled&quot;
