Happy Holidays from www.mintywhite.com

Posted by Rich On December - 25 - 2009

Happy holidays everyone! I wish you the happiest holiday season and new year; may you have a wonderful time with family and friends :)

I’m unavailable until January 4th, 2010 as I take some time off work, get one year older on my birthday, and work on the site for 2010. I’ll get back to you all then, so keep the comments coming and be sure to keep the conversation going on Windows Forums.

Here are some Christmas links for you:

Readers, I believe a brief update is on the cards; a  few things have changed lately. I’ll attempt to keep you updated with the major changes:

  • ReCaptcha is being used on members’ blogs to cut spam comments for them (thanks for the suggestion Christopher.)
  • MyWindowsPC Help, the official MyWindowsPC help blog has been updated and given a new name.
  • Members’ posts are now being featured on the front page.
  • The site activity feed is now being parsed to the sidebar of Windows Guides.

Introducing Our Newest Writer: Adam

Posted by Rich On September - 13 - 2009

Adam, is our newest writer on Windows Guides. Adam is a web entrepreneur and iPhone expert; his company, Snapp Software focuses on iPhone and other mobile application development. His articles will focus on how to get the most out of using your iPhone with your PC. As most iPhone users own a PC, I’m sure you’ll all find his articles really useful.

He gave us a kick start this morning with How to Sync Documents Seamlessly from PC to iPhone and I’m sure we can expect to see more great content like this. Look out for his articles on Sunday mornings—a great time to sharpen your skills.

Please welcome Adam in the comments (and have a chance at Winning a retail copy of Windows 7.)

We’re Moving Servers (Again)

Posted by Rich On March - 11 - 2009

When?

Tonight at 8pm (MDT) I will be moving www.mintywhite.com and my other sites to another, more powerful, server. Traffic has increased a lot recently and so has RSS readership. By virtue of higher traffic, I’ve had to turn off full feeds (RSS and email subscribers only see a preview now) and put some heavy caching on the site.

Downtime?

The transition should provide little to no downtime, other than the forums, which will go down tonight and open again sometime tomorrow.

Thank you for your donations

Thanks to everyone who has donated thus far. ALL of the donation money is going in to the new web hosting; however, I may have to put a little advertising on the site soon—my web hosting is getting really expensive—this site is turning into a costly hobby :)

For those that are interested, here’s the new plan I’ll be moving to.

Happy Birthday: mintywhite

www.mintywhite.com is a year old. I just want to thank everyone for being a visitor to the site; thank you all for your support over the last twelve months!
