Suggestion Box: First winner

Posted by Thomas On May - 30 - 2010

Last weekend we launched a new sticky topic in our Forum, called The Suggestion Box. Even though we try to make mintywhite a very great site, we can always improve, and “The Suggestion Box” is the place to comment on it. Not only site improvements, but also things you’d like us to feature.

To launch this new feature we got hold of 5 more licenses of WinXdvd Ripper of which we will give away ONE license each friday to the best suggestion of the week.

This weeks winner is:

Bert_H

Suggestion:A clear and concise explanation about RAM. A lot of my co-workers are clueless about what it is, what it does, and why upgrading is simple.

Answer: Look for the upcoming article.
The jurors, commented:
Bert has made a well thought out suggestion, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Congratulations Bert_H.

Do you want to win next Friday ?

Help us improve Windows Guides and Win a prize!

Posted by Thomas On May - 21 - 2010

We here on mintywhite, spend a lot of time writing about what interest us, and hopefully we succeed writing something that interests you as well. The other day I started thinking about how I, as a writer, could improve and how this could become an even better site – for you. With that in mind, HOW may we improve?

  • What kind of topics would you like to see more of?
  • What kind of topics would you like to see less of?
  • Is there some special software we should review?
  • How about our competitions? More? Less?
  • Tell us what you think.

The Suggestion Box

I’ve asked Rich to add a new Sticky Topic in our Forum, called: The Suggestion Box. This is the place for you to add your comments, ideas, suggestions about our site; be assured that every suggestion will be taken seriously, and none of them will end up in the  shredder.

Win a prize!

To launch this new feature, we have 5 more Windows licenses of WinXdvd Ripper (Read about it here) and about 10 more MAC licenses for you our Readers. So, the next five Fridays, we will pick the best suggestion out of the box and reward it with a license of your choice.

You Guessed it: No Acquisition. In Other News…

Yesterday, I played the first April fools joke on the third April 1st of Windows Guides’ existence. I am convinced this is the only day of the year I could get away with such a claim! I received phone calls, text messages, emails, IMs etc. congratulating me. I hope that because you saw the announcement, you’ll also see this and I want to thank you all for your kind words.

So, www.mintywhite.com is staying in my ownership and will continue to share the best Windows tips through our great authors.

In other news…

I am honored to receive the Microsoft MVP award again this year (as long as Microsoft didn’t mind the joke and don’t take it away.) Thank you all for your continued support and help in driving my passion to make this site the best it can be!

Thanks :)

Update: This is my first attempt at a www.mintywhite.com April Fools joke.

After nearly three months of negotiation, red tape, paperwork, phone calls, and trips to Redmond, Microsoft and I have come to an agreement on an acquisition of www.mintywhite.com. More details will follow but I want readers to be aware of what’s happening (and what will happen) around here.

In an ongoing effort, by Microsoft, to get to know their customers and help them get the most of out of Microsoft products, the Redmond, WA company wants to be part of a community that has a close connection with it’s users and their computing needs.

What does this mean for readers?

There will be no immediate changes but the future of www.mintywhite.com includes:

  • Windows Forums will change its name to Microsoft Help Central.
  • Windows Guides will be re-branded as Windows How-to Guides.
  • A team of Microsoft-employed writers will continue post creation.
  • The same quality and loyalty to readers will continue and I will stay active in the forums.

More information to come.

Thanks,

Rich

I’d like to thank everyone who took time to share their experience with the load times on www.mintywhite.com. While my data collection was overly simplified, I felt I accomplished what I set out to do: establish how satisfied you, as readers are, with the page-load times on www.mintywhite.com. Read on for the results of the survey.
